What is CHIC?

CHIC are the initials for The Canine Health Information Center which is a centralized canine health database jointly sponsored by the AKC Canine Health Foundation, and the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals.

Each dog that has completed all of the recommended tests, for their breed, and is over one year of age is given a CHIC number that is individual to them.

At Snow Wind Farm we test all of our dogs for what is recommended by the Canine Health Information Center or CHIC.
All of our males have OFA Hip clearances, and a sample of their DNA is banked with the CHIC repository.

The dogs that are listed are on our website and do not have CHIC numbers after their name are too young yet to have completed all of the CHIC recommended testing. We do not use any of our dogs in our breeding program until they are at least two years of age, though they are often in the show ring at 6 months of age.
